A Poem by Carlos Valenzuela
Around a table so bare,
The children share meager gains.
A bowl of beans half-full
A tortilla so thin
They wear a smile in their hearts,
A knowing that this is all there is
They talk and laugh, and they play,
Embracing the moment, come what may.
For this is all there is
Time draws a line in the sand
I see my limits clear.
This is as far as I can go
This is all there is
And this I know.
There is a freedom in this knowing,
A joy that echoes all around.
No worries about limits,
No need to strive,
Content in the moment, truly alive,
I sit with the children,
For their wisdom, I prize,
